The journey to build our family

A few years ago, when we decided we wanted children, we started researching 

what the possibilities for gay men were.  During this search, we  visited and contacted 

more than 20 agencies and clinics in three different continents.

We knew we were going to find the right agency to work with, so we never gave our hopes up. We did not find that agency, but oh boy! after lots of times hitting the wall, we found a clinic to work  with. 

After a few  calls  and information exchange, we were off to Bogota for an entire week. 

During that week we signed the contracts directly with the clinic; met and signed the contract with both our surrogates; we got all the medical tests,  left our sperm samples, talked to the psychologist, the lawyers, the embryologist and the director of the clinic. All in 5 days! We were exhausted, but when we left Colombia we were sure we were coming back to complete our family . 

Why did we choose Colombia? 

Because fertility processes  for gay men are allowed. Because the clinic offers a program that's ethical, professional and  affordable, compared to many other countries. Because it is a guaranteed program. Because it is a beautiful place to visit, it is a country that's re-inventing itself and people are simply the kindest in the world. We're so happy our children and us, are linked to such a beautiful culture. 

The  journey is intense and emotionally charged. We could not have prepared ourselves well enough for what  came our way, but we are grateful to have the amazing staff and doctors that helped us though the entire process. 

We were very happy with this program and with the clinic.  That's why we decided to share our story and help others with reliable information. We will be contacting and answering  questions future dads (and moms) have.  But our support will not stop there, we will accompany the future dads until they become parents... and beyond!
